Peñarrubia del Alto Guadiana is a family business located in Campo de Montiel, in the town of Ossa de Montiel (Albacete) and dedicated to the cultivation and collection of aromatic, medicinal and seasoning plants in organic production.

The area of Ossa de Montiel in Albacete is a protected area within the Natura 2000 Network, noted for its altitude and its location near the Lagunas de Ruidera Natural Park. Traditional organic farming activities are carried out here that are compatible with nature conservation. The Mediterranean climate of the area, with cold winters and hot summers, together with the irregular rainfall concentrated in spring and winter, favor the growth of aromatic plants.

Certification in organic production : In 1999, the company was certified in organic production, which allowed them to access a growing market. They built a dryer in 2004 and diversified our clientele, reaching European countries, the United States and Japan.

Generational change and adaptation to the current market : The family business, founded in 1960 by Gabriel Muñoz, has managed to adapt to market changes. They have carried out the generational change, modernizing our facilities and crops to meet current needs.

Experience and quality : with decades of dedication to aromatic plants, the company has gained valuable knowledge and experience. Using local natural resources, especially wild plants, they offer high-quality organic products, based on traditional methods of obtaining essential oils.

This company distills the main varieties of lavender from the Iberian Peninsula: lavandula angustifolia, lavender latifolia, lavender stoechas, lavender intermedia.

They also produces many other essential oils, of native varieties such as rockrose, rosemary and thyme , vegetables oils, hydrolates, and flowering species for infusion
